Abstract painting on a vertical canvas in weathered turquoise green, scratched and scraped so that fine
black lines, dashes, and small patches of rust-gold show through the surface. A dark smudge sits near the
upper right edge. Hung on a white wall.

Somewhere in the back of my mind I'm still holding on to the memories of standing in my Uncle Pard's barn absorbing glimpses of the auction finds that filled the space... faded signs, cigar boxes, aging machinery and that scent of the past...you know like an old book steaped in pipe tobacco encircling you and transporting you to another time.

The Sol Collection chases all of these senses, but with a fresh new edge making it now...not then. Color goes on, then gets scraped, sanded, and worn back until the layers underneath start to show through. The palette is warm, faded, and a little battered... the way things look after years in the light. It's the feeling of rediscovering something that was once bright and finding it more beautiful for what time did to it.

The Sol collection is growing... visit the art page on my site to see more.
